These are the latest style of 4D Neon number plate letters, and are available in Neon Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue or Krystal clear. The neon colours create a truly stunning effect as the edges appear to glow under ambient light. The Krystal Clear characters create a beautiful effect with the top black acrylic layer seeming to float over the surface of the number plate.
Each of the 4d neon number plate letters is constructed from a two distinct layers, first there is the 3mm thick neon acrylic layer which is topped with a 2mm thick high gloss black acrylic layer to create a stunning 5mm thick 4D character. The layers are held together using the same high strength 3M adhesive which is used to stick the letters onto the number plates, ensuring a completely reliable but invisible bond. To give the most professional finish possible I glue the sheets of acrylic together first and cut each 4D character as a single piece. This ensures that your characters have one single smooth edge, not something that you can reliably achieve if you stick the layers together after they have been cut.

Are 4D Number Plate Letters Legal?
The characters use the DVLA approved Charles Wright font and fully comply with the requirement to be 50mm wide and 79mm high. However in 2021 the DVLA updated its regulations to require that any 4D or gel character must only be Black in colour. Therefore these Neon (or any other multi-colour) characters can now only be used to create “Show Plates”.
If you want to manufacture 100% road legal 4D number plates then that is still possible, but you should use the following characters: Laser Cut 4D Number Plate Letters.
If you are making new registration plates then you must be registered with the DVLA. If you are applying these characters to an existing printed number plate than you are not making a new number plate and so this is OK.
Will The Letters Fall Off?
We only use super strong 3M adhesive which is designed for harsh outdoor environments. When fitting the characters please take care that the number plate surface is clean, dry, free from debris and de-greased before applying the characters. Allow adhesive to set after application.
How Do I Fit The Number Plate Letters?
Each character comes ready backed with 3M adhesive. This makes it very convenient to apply the letters, simply peel off the adhesive backing and away you go. No messing around with glues or trying to put adhesive pads on yourself.
Please note that if you are sticking these characters over the top of your existing number plate then there is no guarantee that the characters will match exactly. There are many subtle variations of the Charles Wright font that number plate manufactures use. For example some use sharp points in the middle of an “M” or a “W” while others chop the spike off, some manufacturers round off the corners of the characters while others have crisp sharp lines.
There are also strict DVLA requirements for the spacing between characters, between groups of characters, and around the edge of the number plate. If you want to get a precise accurate finish when applying your characters then use the
