“4D Number Plate Letters” I hear you say, yes I agree it makes no sense. But that’s what everyone is calling them so lets just go with the flow.
Simply put, do you want to give your number plate a bold new look that stands out from the crowd. The 4D number plate letters are laser cut from jet black 3mm or 5mm thick acrylic which adds depth to your number plate compared to conventional printed number plates. When the light hits these characters they look so good.
What’s With All The Different Options?
You can purchase these 4D characters in one of two thicknesses, 3mm or 5mm. This is a completely personal preference for how bold you want the number plate to look.
You can purchase the 4D characters with either sharp crisp corners or with a very slight rounding. The sharp edges give a very crisp and neat look to the number plate, while the rounded corners give a slightly less aggressive look and are also perfectly matched for our gel “tops”
For the sharp edged characters I also provide the option of purchasing the “M” and “W” characters with or without the centre spike chopped off. Note that the rounded corner style of characters always has the spike chopped off the “M” and “W” so that they match the gels tops. Are 4D Number Plate Letters Legal?
The characters use the DVLA approved Charles Wright font and fully comply with the requirement to be 50mm wide and 79mm high, so they can be used to manufacture 100% road legal number plates. If you are making new registration plates then you must be registered with the DVLA. If you are applying these characters to an existing printed number plate than you are not making a new number plate and so this is OK.
Will The Letters Fall Off?
We only use super strong 3M adhesive which is designed for harsh outdoor environments. When fitting the characters please take care that the number plate surface is clean, dry, free from debris and de-greased before applying the characters. Allow adhesive to set after application.
How Do I Fit The Number Plate Letters?
Each character comes ready backed with 3M adhesive. This makes it very convenient to apply the letters, simply peel off the adhesive backing and away you go. No messing around with glues or trying to put adhesive pads on yourself.
Please note that if you are sticking these characters over the top of your existing number plate then there is no guarantee that the characters will match exactly. There are many subtle variations of the Charles Wright font that number plate manufactures use. For example some use sharp points in the middle of an “M” or a “W” while others chop the spike off, some manufacturers round off the corners of the characters while others have crisp sharp lines.
There are also strict DVLA requirements for the spacing between characters, between groups of characters, and around the edge of the number plate. If you want to get a precise accurate finish when applying your characters then use the
